after 8 years, i have to say goodbye to my beloved inline skates. sadly, Bauer dont make skates anymore, they only produce ice hockey gear now.... sigh...

Where are my Earplugs?

Just like a soccer match, you can watch it a hundred times on TV but the experience of being there yourself is totally different. Went to the Singapore F1 warmup with KW today (last night, rather). i only wished i had my earplugs, and a 300mm lens.

i laughed when i saw earplugs as 1 of the items in the F1 Survival Kit (selling for $2), boy was i wrong. 130+ decibels created by a 700+hp V8 engine (used to be V10 until some regulation change) is no joke, multiply that by 22 cars and what you get are loud "tz...tz..." sounds of your eardrums reaching their audible limits, and a feeling as if your brain is brushing against your skull inside your head. What a rush.... KW and I had to shout into each others ears when we talked, and half the time we still can't hear each other.

Had lunch with Cat at an italian restaurant called Amici Vicolo yesterday. its a small restaurant tucked at a corner of holland V. Ambience was ok but the food and service were excellent. we were very happy with the whole experience.

oh well, it could have been a great afternoon if not for an incident at a mobilephone shop there. we wanted to get a prepaid phonecard for my father-in-law whose coming from hk to visit us today. we wanted an $8 card, but was charged $18! we were unsure of prepaid card stuff so when they said "is like that one", we didnt pursue. after that we called Singtel to check and true enuff, we were conned. we gave them the location of the shop and they will be conducting their investigation soon.

lessons learnt here, check the amount before signing on the charge slip/entering your NETS pin. Also, dont be lazy, go to Singtel/M1/starhub shops for peace of mind.

personally, i wont be buying anything from such mobilephone shops anymore. heard horror stories from people who bought their phones from such shops but i never thot that it could happen over a simple phonecard too. Disgusting.

finally over

finally finished the ICT. now i can seriously go back to work. tonnes of backlog....

What a weekend

Covered 2 weddings with Jeremy over the past weekend. with only 2hrs of sleep in between the 2 fullday weddings, its 1 of the toughest back-to-back shoots i had. Thank God for coffee and Red Bull :)
